Mainstream writers seem incapable of writing about health conditions or medical choices without claiming that something is "not an excuse" to make contrary medical choices, that something doesn't erase the "personal responsibility" to make certain health choices, or that something should not be construed as "permission" to make stigmatized choices about their bodies.

You do not need "excuses" or "permission" to make any choice you want about your own body. You do not have any "personal responsibility" to do anything with your own body.

Your body is YOURS. Do whatever you want with it.
